Abandoned
school
18th
August 2001
This
abandoned school was almost always destined to be abandoned. Built in an industrial
part of southern UA City it was soon sorrounded by factories and a small power
station. Yet for many years the school was allowed to stay open. When some former
students sued the government for heavy metals poisoning the school was finally
closed. It is still relatively intact, as it was closed down at the start of
the year.

South side school

In 1916 there were less factories around here.

Boarded up windows

Painted pandas

The doors were wide open. Sadly, the place had been vandalized before I got a look at it.

Dark classroom

Sentence construction - something about giants

More writing stuff

Empty shelves

A long dark hallway

Burnt out theater

Rubbish strewn hallway

More empty cupboards

Some of the windows were boarded up.

This was a Phys-Ed room. Note the smashed up ceiling fan

Music lesson sheets, cut outs of people, shelves with student names
Relatively intact room

Hmm, I once had a painting like that.

I guess they didn't like that song.

View from downstairs window

View from upstairs window

Rows of hooks to store clothing, and a fuse box

Slight problem with a leaky roof

Long empty hallway

When I first saw this room, I wondered what all those things on the floor were

Then I found out. There were 18 puzzles on the floor.

Small classroom

Empty shelves

The ceiling in this room is falling down. It is held up only by a fan and a couple of light fittings.

Another long hallway

I regret not taking these tapes and book with me. It would have been cool to make MP3s of the tapes and scanned the book.
