1. Clean the Roof

2. Apply the Right Sealant
Now, it is okay to apply a sealant over an old one. However, you need to make sure that the sealant is not peeling up. It should also be perfectly placed on the roof.

If the sealant and the roof are clean, you should be able to apply a new one easily.
But be sure that the old sealant is cleaned thoroughly at first. Use a roof cleaner specifically designed for RVs. Then, rinse it well using a wet sponge.
Clean with a cloth soaked with a type of denatured alcohol as a final process. Do this once the roof is completely dry.

When removing the RV roof sealant and using a new one, be sure to choose the appropriate type.
There are TPO roofs that do not work with a common sealant. So, you have to check the owner’s packet or inquire from your RV manufacturer to know the right kind.
Moreover, never apply a silicone sealant. Keep in mind that silicone is not suitable for RV roofs. And worse, once you need to replace it in the future, you can never apply a new one over it.
